  • Hi, I have 5050 rmx powers and plx 3402. I would like to know if these power amps can be on without any load. I want to tune the power gain, and according to a data sheet, I have to send 1volt signal to the input and measure at the output for 64 volts for the 5050 and 32 for the plx. so, the speakers will not be connected.

  • Yes, you can run solid state amplifiers with no load connected.

If you put 1 volt rms into both amps, at full gain, you will measure 64 volts on the output of the RMX5050 and 40 volts on the output of the PLX3402.

The voltage will not change noticeably if you connect a loudspeaker, but the sound of a continuous high-power tone might be really annoying, and it could be excessive for the loudspeaker.
