Is GX3 amp common ground?

  • Looked at a schematic I saw online to try finding out if GX3 is common ground. To me it appears NOT common ground but not positive in my assessment.

    Is the GX3 common ground at the output, or no?

  • You are correct. The GX3 and GX5 amps do not have a grounded output terminal. They use low-side current sensing, which allows simpler, less expensive circuitry than the usual high-side sensing, but it separates the low side from ground (and also prevents operating the pair of channels in bridged mono).
