  • general questions...

    1. does QSC have any plans to introduce a 1U size amp in the mid/high power wattage range?
    2. does QSC have any plans to build amps larger than the PL380? upwards into the 14000w / 18000w range?

    thanks in advance

  • There's nothing in the imminent pipeline on a 1RU high-power amp, but with the developments we've been making with class D amplification, it's not out of the realm of possibility for the future.

There hasn't been much clamoring for an amp more powerful than the PL380. Will the market demand change? I don't know. We'll also have to see what's possible in future output devices that can handle higher voltages. As you can imagine, amp design gets more complex when the circuits have to handle higher and higher voltages and currents. As one amp design engineer I worked with before I came to QSC once said, "The rules change when you get up above five or six thousand watts."
